The University of Pécs is not only the oldest of all Hungarian universities (founded in 1367), but also one of the largest with 9 faculties and two institutes. At present the number of student is around 31 000. A rector and a team of six vice-rectors each responsible for a different area of university life head the University. The faculties (each headed by a dean) and the institutes (headed by a director) represent large academic area.

Since the establishment of Pécs University, Medical School, many of its graduates have gained international recognition through the Medical School’s co-operation with institutions all over the world.

The education at Medical School involves three main fields: General Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Taking the internationally recognized standards of scientific impact factors and citation indexes into consideration, of the five Hungarian medical schools, ours is leading the way.
